Cold Therapy Saved My Life

Madisen Selee • April 28, 2024

Cold therapy changed the patterns of thinking in my mind. It saved my mind and my life.

During the worst depressive season of my life, I was desperate for relief. I was desperate for hope, for peace, for a remedy for the excruciating pain of mental anguish.

At this time, I had seen a man named Cru Mahoney post on social about cold plunges and how much it positively impacted him physically and mentally. He posted day after day after day. (I am so glad he did). During this, I was so numb. I felt like a zombie. I knew that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I decided to take Cru's advice and dedicate myself to cold therapy. Every. Single. Day of 2024.

I started taking 3 minute cold baths or plunges in my unheated pool in the winter. It would be in the 30-40s Fahrenheit.

After a couple days, I started to change from the inside out. I didn't want to take my life anymore. I want to keep living. I wanted to keep going. I felt like there was a will to live. Cold therapy changed the patterns of thinking in my mind. It saved my mind and my life.

As I noticed the incredible effects, I began to read studies about cold therapy.

I learned through these studies that when humans are exposed to cold temperatures, our bodies release endorphins, the "feel-good" hormones that help reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, cold therapy has been shown to improve mental clarity and focus, as well as boost overall mood.

Many report feeling a sense of rejuvenation and increased resilience to stress.

The shock of cold can help reset your mind and body, providing a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of energy. I can attest this is certainly true.

For anyone struggling in their mental well-being, please incorporate cold therapy. Introduce this ritual and do not stop until your body and mind reap the benefits.

I want you to be happy. I am rooting for your joy and future.

Xx,

Madisen

One of the greatest powers of therapy is its ability to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your innermost thoughts and feelings.

The power of saying my gratitudes aloud to the world, to the universe, even to the little birds singing in the yard, lead to an incredibly unexpected amount of happiness.
